Welcome to SRP. You are starting off with a nice razor selection in the Dovo 6/8. Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind and let us know how things progress for you. You will find plenty of members who will be happy to offer any help that they can. Enjoy.

Hey Thunderhorse, Welcome! For a moment I thought we were neighbors. Different nowhere, though.

That's a blade I've often recommended to starting straight shavers. I'll be interested to hear how you like it.

When it arrives, shave with it before you strop it. Many times a new user posts that his razor didn't seem sharp enough, even though the vendor promised a shave-ready blade. We always ask if you stropped it first, because it's possible with improper stropping to roll the edge, to actually bend it away from the strop.

There's lots of good information in our Wiki (click the Library link at the top of the page), including videos of stropping, etc. Practice stropping with a butter knife, paying special attention to the flip, before you put your blade and strop at risk from one another. The commonest way to nick a strop is to complete the flip before the blade has reversed direction.

What are you using for lather?

I hope that, like the rest of us, your dread will be replaced by anticipation.

    Best wishes to you.
