    Default Hello

Hey folks, looking foward to getting to know ya's.

Been safety razor (DE) shaving for almost a year. Stopped at a antique shop the other day and they had several straight razors for sale so I bit. Needs some work, and thats how I ended up here. I'm not up on proper terms related to both styles of shaving so if I slip up be gentle on me.

    Off to the forums...

    Welcome aboard!

I think your best bet would be to either send off one or two of the razors you bought to be professionally honed or order one that's been professionally honed, not just the factory edge. That'll give a good starting point & make it easier to judge progress when you start honing.

Some of the more senior members here may be willing to hone your razor(s) for free or at a discounted rate.

Welcome Eric to the forum and hopefully to a wonderful experience with straights. The key is practice and patience. Dont get discouraged, there is a learning curve involved with this passion of ours. But this is the perfect location for the knowledge you will need.
    Good luck
