I'm Patrick, and I'm a shave-aholic. I've been wet shaving for a few months and am seriously considering taking the plunge into the world of straights. Before I do though, I'm here to learn as much as I can so the first experience is not miserable.

Welcome sgtd. You came to the right forum. There is quit a bit of good information in the "Helpful Links" box on this site's home page. I am relatively new, having quit cold turkey with cartriges in December of 2011, and picking up a straight instead. There is a learning curve, as you may have read, but it is a fun adventure. I wish you the best.

It is a very good idea to arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can before starting with straight razors. There is much to know, much to learn, and the more of that you have accumulated, the easier and more effective your start will be. We're here to help. Good luck!

    Hello Patrick and welcome aboard!
Yes, go for it! Nothing is difficult as long as you want to learn it. So, take your time to read what you consider useful for you and then buy a straight razor, a real one.
And never be afraid to ask!
