Hello from Greater Manchester UK
Hello everyone,
I'm Tom. I live in Bolton in England and i'm currently searching for my first straight razor to start my wet shaving adventure.
I've been doing lots of research and have found some fantastic companies selling really good shaving soaps etc.. My big predicament now is finding a good razor. Im torn between brand spanking new or vintage. There are so many choices so if anyone can give me any advice or if you have a good razor for sale please please let me know.

Hi Tom.
Personally I prefer a Vintage blade as they are on par with a quality modern blade plus have some history and usually a bit cheaper.
Here is a trust worthy UK vendor who sells both old/new. Link is to the vintage blade page...

Thanks England. I'm going to take a look at that website now. If you have any shaving tips please fire them my way. I really appreciate your advice. Ive been thinking about going to a straight razor for a while. I dont think the Mrs will like to see my bank statement this/next month... But hey ho.

Thanked: 443The theory is that you'll save money over buying disposables. I think it happens in reality about as often as cold fusion. Your spending may vary.
Welcome to SRP. We have a lot of U.K. members; with luck one of near you.

You will find an endless amount of tips on here plus youtube etc.
The best tip I can give is, Don't expect too much too soon and stick with it.
You will probably find your first couple of shaves awful but I promise you, stick with it and each and every shave will be better than the previous one. This will continue for the first 6 months !
You will probably spend a small fortune but it can be done cheaply if you really have to. For instance I recently brought 2 quality razors from a car boot sale for £8 ( wade & butcher 5/8 and a Sheffield Krop 5/8 ). Cleaned them up and honed them myself. However I don't recommend this to a newbie, much better to buy a pro honed razor to start with.
Also made a 3" strop 27" long for £7.50p and its the best strop I have ever used.
Very best of luck on your journey.
