Thread: Hello- Detroit MI

Hello, I am super new to this and ran accross this site trying to look for the right straight razor to purchase. I know nothing about straight razors, and I have a feeling that when I do finally find one that is in my price range that is "shave ready" I will be tearing up my face ha. I would really like to hear from anyone who has any sort of knowledge about this. I am looking for answers to....what kind of razor should I buy? I do not want one of the straight razors that have the replaceable blades, I think that defeats the purpose, but I could be wrong, I do not want to spend a lot of money on one because I do not know if I will even like it, how do I shave with a straight razor? Stropping and honing? What about the brush? Does this make a huge difference when applying cream? Do different shaving creams make a difference? AHHH...my brain hurts trying to find all these answers ha. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, have a good day.

try the classifieds on this site as they should be shave ready unless noted as not. You could try Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment as Larry is awesome at getting new guys started with quality equipment for not much cash. Read the wiki on this site for all kinds of info.
