Red face Just got on the forum

I'm new to playing with antique razors. I bought a couple of straightrazors, just for fun, and then a friend of mine gave me an old GEM.
I had no idea as what to do with this thing, so I set it aside.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to get the GEM back out and take a look at it.
I found good carbon steel(?) blades for it at Rite Aid - who would have thought .........
I have since tossed my old Fusion, as I refuse to pay for new blades (actually, it's a money issue - work as a contractor, not much extra cash, etc...)
I can't believe folks don't use these GEMs any more.

People tend to be a little scared of the Gem's and other SE's because they can be a little on the aggressive side. I personally love them. Most pharmacies will sell some sort of SE blade. I've found that the best for me are the Persona SS blades that they sell at Walgreens.

Hello and welcome! As for nearly everyone using burn-o-matics, I think that's mostly a time issue & lack of exposure to real shaving. You should check the classifieds here for someone to hone one of your straights, you'll really enjoy that!
