Thread: Hi everyone!

I've been reading these forums for a while now and decided to finally register.

I was traveling in southeast asia about two years ago and I forgot to bring a refill cartridge for my fusion razor. I figured I'll just goto a local barber and just get a shave there. When he pulled out the straight razor, I was nervous. However, he did know what he was doing and I had the best shave ever! I went back a few times and thanked/tipped him well.

Once I got back to the states, I went back to my disappointing cartridge shaves. There is an art of shaving store by my work in San Francisco, but at $35 bucks a shave, it's more of a rare treat instead of a routine. Anyways, I decided that I want to learn how to shave with a straight razor and found this forum.

I've purchased a DOVO "best quality" from Vintage Blades and a kit from the Art of Shaving store. I've read many posts on how I'll ruin my first strop so I've ordered a cheap one from amazon. I also bought an old Geneva cutlery off ebay so I can practice honing and stropping without ruining my new razor.

I'm very excited and can't wait for everything to arrive!

Make sure that your razor was professionally honed! Ask the seller! If it was not Do Not Shave with it as you will be very disappointed! I you need a recommendation for a pro honer, PM me!
