    Default Hey everybody.

New member here straight out of Massachusetts. I've finally been able to get into straight style shaving within the past few months and got great info from this site. It was worth it.

Started off with a Personna Magic shavette with some Derby blades as a cheap transition and I liked how it performed over my old Fusion. I now have a Parker SR1 with Shark blades and can see a difference in how the blades cut as well as how the weight affects it. The more I shave the more I want to keep doing it again to get the right angles and refine the technique.

I was given a straight razor as a present a few years back and now I think I'm ready to get it honed after picking up info here and having some solid base for my technique. Are there any reputable members here that can help out with that?

Glad to be able to join a community that's full of knowledge and willing to help out others as I'm willing to do the same. See you around the forums!

Welcome to SRP, it's good to have you on board. As to your question on getting your razor honed check this link in our classifieds. You can pm (private message) any of them and you'll find that in your settings at the top of the page. Lots of good info and members here, so when you need help, just ask. Again, welcome!! Hi iLoLz!

I have been shaving with a dovo shavette for about a year and half and just got a vintage blade honed from Lynn. He did a great job! I have completed about 5 shaves with my vintage blade, and am learning that it is a whole new experience. Before I didn't have to worry about stropping, so that is a whole new issue. Learn as much as you can about that. It helped me to find an old timey barber who could watch to make sure I was doing it right, and I am still not convinced that I am...Anyway, I also learned that you need a much steeper angle on the blade than I needed with my shavette. I hope that helps! Great to meet you!

    Hi iLoLz, welcome to SRP

What kind of razor do you have?

Feel free to ask whatever question you might have, someone will always be able to answer (well, most of the times anyway)

My friend gave me a Kreigar razor. Just found that it's on the list of brands to avoid so I'll wait until I get a better quality one.
