    Default hay y'all

Just little ole me what got hisself all banned and everthing from...well nevermind.

I just started 1 August this year, my birthday-when i bought a Schick razor locally, that I began to learn how to (DE) SHAVE after 30 years of scraping-hairs-off-my-face-with-a-crude-implement. That is not shaving- it's whack-n-go.

in a whole month (and very modest expenditure) I've acquired 6 razors, 200-odd blades of a dozen different marks, a new brush, sold a razor, and tried 4 soaps, 3 of which i made (only one "for" shaving). OH WAIT, I have to check something...i may have a "new" razor soon.

I have a straight razor, but knew nothing of SR shaving when i bought it. I"ve been trimmed up by barbers with the S/R, but that's it. I may try it again sometime, but am really happy that I discovered the DE, and am still learning it. My parents shaved with DE's by necessity, but I'm of the "Hollow Handle_Bic vx. Good News" era.

Irish "vs" Cherokee bloodlines doesn't give me much beard to grapple with anyway, but I have enjoyed learning to give myself a better shave. Have more to learn i'm sure.

    As You Were!

Glad to have you there Wade, you will find that we are quite a diverse group of gentlemen here. That being said, we don't all agree all the time, but as long as we keep it civil...no worries. Please take your time in the Wiki section and if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me.
    God Bless,

1 August I started DE shaving.

1 September I put a straight to my cheek and made a pass. (i read the how-to here 31 Aug)

    this is going nowhere fast!

I did "win" the other auction for a Ball End Tech in original travel box. But then have cleaned up my old (1911) SR and "inspected" the SR's my buddy has today (he inherited from GGP, but never used). Methinks I'll take the straight shaving nice and slow, maybe get to the neck part next year.

Still enjoying the DE's too much, don't want to foreshorten that party. Quite amusing to think of the DE as teh "quickie" shave...15 minutes for a quickie right?

hadda go look: mine is an Ed Wusthof 83. my pal has a Robeson Shur Edge and a Geo Wostenhom IXL. One of his needs scales repair, but the blades look good aside from some out-of-the-way corrosion on one. He also has a Duram Duplex that takes replaceable blades, not quite so interesting...

Neat thing in the box was a brass hanger/swivel for poking a belt through for a strop. and also a paddle strop. and a coiled up belt.

I'll inventory the local antiques mall next, where i saw a dozen plus SR's in my hunts for DE's. Maybe get some of those out there into the shave-o-lution.
