Thanked: 0Aloha from Seattle, WA
Hello everyone. I am totally new to straight razor shaving. All through the years I used the standard flavor multiple blade razor and shaving gel that had the coolest ad or was on sale at the local market. Of course I thought I knew how to shave. However, about two weeks I came across a Art of Shaving store that was opening near my house. I had a good talk with the sales guy and came home with a free sampler. So that night I went to try out the free sample using the directions the sales guy told me and man was my eyes opened. I didn't realize what I was missing out on.So I'm trying to do my research before I attempt my first straight razor shave. This sight has been very helpful in directing me in the right direction and also to give me sense of the practice that goes into learning this skill. I actually just found a 3 day set of Kropp razors at goodwill. They look like they are in awesome shape and was thinking of taking them to the local knife shop to get them sharpened. I'll keep you updated.

Thanked: 13249STOP !!!
Don't take them to the knife shop, unless that guy shaves with a straight razor..
We have a very active PNW member base and many are right up there by you including me..
We have an upcoming PNW meet I will personally teach you how to hone your own razors if you can join us..
Here is the thread with the details consider it your invite
http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...pokane-wa.html
PLEASE do not let a "Knife Guy" wreck the razors, I will give some of the other PNW guys a chance to jump in, maybe one of the Seattle guys can get you up and running ASAP but if not I will hone a razor up for you N/C as soon as you can get it to me (shipping is on you)
Welcome to SRP

I`am in Kent, Maple Valley area so it is pretty close. So you need hone them? Correct? If so, I hope my master Glen will be proud of his protoge. Please send me PM so I will respond with my address however razors must be delivered either by end of today or next week after Monday and I will probably prepare them by end off weekend.

Mariusz, thanks for stepping up. passing it on is great.
If something else happens I would also be willing to hone for you. If you cover shipping costs or happen through Yakima.
Its great that you are educating yourself. I would highly suggest coming to the meet where you will learn more, faster than any other method. There are some great guys in the area.

Thanked: 0Definitely would like to go to the meet. Unfortunately with my work schedule I would have to wait for something a little closer to my neck of the woods. I had a question for you guys. For my first strop I was looking at purchasing a classic edge board strop. Do you think that's a good one to start with?
