I'm going to suggest you wait on to much more buying until you've got the shave down. Alot of members here will hone your blade for reasonable prices and until you know you have the shave down it will be very hard to know if you are honing properly. You need to know what you are doing and what a properly honed blade should feel like first.
Note: I'm still not at the hone myself stage, I have a few problem areas with the shave I'd like to settle first.

Thanks for that advice. I'm working on the shave and stropping, and know what a properly honed blade feels like thanks to Steve at The Invisible Edge and the shave-ready Ford & Medley. I just wondered if the Thuringian stone would let me touch up the edge when the stropping doesn't seem to do it any more.
Or should I be thinking about a pasted strop and leave the stone for later?
