    Default G'day all

Evening everyone, I'm David currently in the San Fancisco bay area.

I have been lookig around the website for a several months, gleaning some great information (thanks everyone) before starting to shave with a straight razor. I have been shavinf with the straight for a few months now, and I am still very much learning it.

I have been shaving with a Dovo Flowing 6/8" Straight Razor I got from Straight Razor Designs and honed by Lynn.

I did manage to get a very small nick in the blade, so I think my nect step is to try out a hone. I was thinking a fine grit 10k, 12k+ any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks
    David

    Hello David, and welcome.

Pictures would help us answer your question. This nick may require coarser honing to repair. Unless you want to get into collecting and restoring, it may be cheaper in the long run to send yours out for repair. Not that you shouldn't have a nice fine hone around--I heartily recommend the Naniwa 12k. It's as fast as a barber's hone but full-sized. A great hone but probably not the best for nick removal.

    Best wishes
