    Default Shaving in the 'Sota

Have my straight razor restored now waiting to put on the new black horn scales and to have it honed. Once it is ready I am excited to attempt to steady my hand at shaving.

Bought the basic VDH kit at Walmart, they wer out of straight VDH soap and figured for 8 bucks I couldn't go wrong for bowl, boar brush, and soap. Boar brush would be a solid back up brush and travel one I wouldn't care about. Just ordered my strop and badger brush too.

I have done a few wet shaves and have notticed an extremely better shave already with my disposable razor.

Thanks to Randydance062449 for his help restoring the razor.

Hi, and welcome. Sounds like your getting a good start. Be sure to try and post some pics of your razor when you get it. I'm sure Randy will tell you this, if he's honing it, it'll be shave ready. Don't strop it before the first shave. I'm assuming your not wanting to hone it yourself. Have fun, and once again, Welcome.

    Regards
    Howard

Edit: Thought I'd add a link to the wiki. You'll find lots of good help for first shaves, etc.. http://straightrazorpalace.com/srpwi...zor_Place_Wiki

Welcome again all the way from Maple Grove! You are certainly using the correct approach to SR shaving. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Nice to meet you Dave! Nice part of town, I am down in Burnsville. Got inlaws near Maple Grove so I am sure we will cross paths. Any specialties or areas of advice I can look to you for?
