    Default New in Arizona

    Hello everyone,
I am new to these parts and hope to pick up some info on straight shaving. I have been DE shaving for years and am entertaining the conversion to straights.

Best bet is to either buy a new razor such as a Dovo or Theirs Issard and have it pro honed, you can also check the classifieds here for a shave ready razor. The minimum kit should include the following: Razor, Brush, soap and a quality strop, a barbers hone in the future. These will set you up for life.

In the meantime do all the homework you can, study stropping, shave technique as well as beard prep. It may seem like a case of information overload for a while but as you build the skills it will all come into play.

Welcome to SRP, I hope to see a lot of you around here in the coming weeks, months .

    Happy shaving,Kelly

+1 to nun2sharp. He pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as starter gear. straightrazordesings.com, vintagebladesllc.com, and thesuperiorshave.com all sell great razors that are ready to go out of the box. I use these sites for practically all my gear, and are great folks to deal with, and will answer any questions you might have; as well as everyone here. So remember, there are no dumb questions here, only dumb accidents b/c you didn't ask! Good luck, and welcome!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Congrats on entering the slippery slope. You are gonna love it!!

A ton of information on this forum as well as so many helpful folks you will be overwhelmed with as much useful information as you can handle.

Read the Wiki and ask questions and you will be hooked in no time flat.
Any day on this side of the flowers is a good day!
