    Default Hello everyone

Hi everyone, my handle is Hilltopper and I live in Austin, Texas. I have two straight-razors that belonged to my dad that I think I will sharpen and try to shave with.

These razors appear to be some off-brand because Googling has yielded no results. The razors are named "DABO" and they are made in Solingen, Germany. Also, they have this inscription on the blade"Per tutte le barbe," which is Italian and means "For all beards."

Does anyone know of this brand? It could be my dad bought them in Italy while in the Navy or at the commissary.

Just about _any_ vintage razor, made in Solingen, will be a good shaver.

I suggest that you send one of the razors to somebody else to sharpen. That will give you a standard of comparison if you decide to sharpen the other one yourself.

Razor honing isn't exactly like knife honing. It takes most people a while to pick it up, and the equipment isn't cheap (unless you use lapping film). There's a huge amount of teaching material on the Wiki here.
