    Welcome to SRP
The razor you have chosen from SRD is a fine blade and it will shave great. Lynn will put a top notch edge on it for you.
Send your Art of shaving razor to SRD and get him to hone it as well.
Shave with one of them and when it dulls send it out to get honed and start using the other. You'll need no hones.

    Hope this helps
    Colin

Well like I said, I love knives and the skills associated with maintaining an edge, so I'd prefer to not have to rely on someone else (as well as pay $25 plus shipping every time) to maintain my razors. Even if I sent them off once a year for a proper job, is there no stone I can use on a weekly basis that would stave off the need to send it in for a while?

No hones, BUT, you will need a strop, especially since you mentioned that you have a tough beard. You will want to strop before each shave.

I would go this one of the little swaty barbers hones then.

    Swaty Barber hone, got it.

I'll post an update if I find one before purchasing. Thanks!

    Default Hey everyone!

IMO you would do well to look for a high grit, modern synthetic finisher like the naniwa superstone 12k.

They cost 75$ and work very well.

I'm sure swaty is a great stone but they are smaller and it may be tricky to get a good one for a good price. IME its easy to get a barber hone with nicks and scratches. Swaty in good condition are highly sought after which drives up price.

Naniwa is big, easy to use/find, and very consistent. All you need to do is lap it.

    Thanks Michael

Yeah, that's actually the exact stone I was looking at. They sell it on the SRD website as well
