    Default Hello from Sydney

    Hello Everyone,

Have decided to give straight shaving a go.

Will start once I decide on a hopefully not too expensive "starter kit", followed by the inevitable wait for it to be delivered.

Updates and questions I'm sure will follow.

You have found the right place to start. Your best 'Starter Kit' may turn out to be one you put together yourself. Take a look at the Wiki on this forum to get you started on the right track . . .

Then, ask questions. Guys on this forum are more helpful than any you will find. There are no questions you can ask, that won't get a thoughtful response.

    G'Day and welcome to SRP.
Good to see another Aussie on board.
Have a look at the whippeddog sight unseen deal for a start or the classifieds here.
Alternatively you could come up to the Bris for our workshop day on the 21st. (look in the 'Down Under forum')
We look forward to hearing of your progress
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

    Welcome to SRP!

Be careful with your first razor and associated kit. Research carefully because, like most things in life, you get what you pay for with straights, strops, soaps, creams, etc. If it seems too cheap, it probably is - there is a list of razor brands to avoid in the Wiki. I suggest you take a look there before you buy anything, particularly off ebay.

    Cheers,

    James.

G'day Muddy. Make sure you give Oz a yell. He's the local guru in your area. Welcome to the forum and cut-throat shaving in general.

    Mud, Best of greetings.

When you start out, some time, face to face w/ an experienced shaver can be very helpful. In your shoes, I'd beat a path to Onimaru's door asap. I'd probably do it anyway if I were down there. You have some very skilled guys down there. It would be good to connect with them. You'll thank yourself.
