    Default Hi from Nashville

    Hey Guys,

Brand new here....Straight razor shaving has been something that I've wanted to do for a long time. Yesterday, I was down in ATL and I walked into an "Art of Shaving" store...I walked out with a razor...I'm hoping that I didn't buy something that I'm going to regret, but I am excited to start trying. I hear that I need to get it honed before I start shaving with it? Know anyone in Nashville that can do that?? Thanks in advance!

    -Aaron

G'Day and welcome to SRP, Aaron.
I'm on the other side of the world so can't help much with local honers, however, a quick check of the classifieds might give you the information that you are looking for - check the members services (I think).
Of course, if you want to catch a plane real soon, you might get here by Sunday and can join us for the get together....
Yay - my smileys are back
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

    Welcome Aaron.

Next step is to read the Wiki from front to back. There is a wealth of information to absorb, and some great video.

What razor did you purchase from AOS? I know of one member/vendor who lives in Virginia and offers honing services, but not sure if there are others closer to you. Check the Member Services.

You will enjoy this forum, if you have questions, make sure you ask. The members here are more than willing to share.

Forgive me for not knowing more then that, pretty new to razors. Ask me about pocket knives though, I know those ;-)

    With that, I'm wiki-bound.

If memory serves me correctly, Thiers-Issard makes their razors for them. If that's the case you bought a quality blade that will last you a long time.

Hey there, nice razor ya' picked up, I doubt you will ever regret that purchase. I"m about 6 hours from you, and if you covered the postage, I could hone that thing up no charge for a newbie. There are also members who offer honing services in the classifieds and vendors section. Your call, if you want me to go at it just PM me. Welcome to SRP

Before I forget, if you haven't gotten yourself a strop, you need to ASAP, a decent 3" latigo can be had for less than $70 and will last you a long long long time. Personally I love the one I got from Lynn and Don, but never hurts to shop around either.
