Thanked: 0Starting SBR from Seattle, Washington
Hello to all I am looking to start SBR shaving. I am with the Navy and currently stationed out of Everett, Wa. I have absolutely no experience with SBR so any tips are greatly appreciated. I am looking to get a razor soon so any suggestions about that would be greatly appreciated as well.

G'Day and welcome to SRP.
You've come to the right place to do your research.
Check the classifieds for a shave ready razor, communicate with the vendor to see if it would suit you, read the beginners tips sticky, use the search bar to find answers to specific questions and ask any other questions you have in the relevant forums.
It's great to have you on boardHang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 0Does anybody have any recommendations on a first SBR for a beginner? Also any recommendations for all the other gear to get started? I have been looking at the starter kits that different distributors have? What are some things to look for and to keep away from?

Thanked: 2209For a razor start by looking in the Classifieds section of this forum. Try for a size of 5/8 or 6/8. The 5/8 denotes the width of the blade. Also pickup a strop. Those 2 things are mandatory. Next is a shaving brush and a quality shaving soap or cream.
Next find some SRP guys in your area that you can meet with and learn from.
It looks like your a bit north of Seattle.
Here is a list of SRP guys with a location of Washington in their profile.....

In the Navy, I'll bet your wallet is a bit skinny, for some budget gear to get you started you might try this web site until you get your feet on the ground and decide where you want to go.
