Thumbs up Hello from the DC Metro Area!

    Hello Fellow Straight Razor folk!

First off, Thank you! Several months ago I decided to check into the idea of shaving with a straight razor. I found this site and learned a great many things and I have been thrilled with it ever since. Following suggestions I went to whipped dog and got my first shaver. I have used it exclusively from that time. (I don't shave daily luckily!)

Now I am getting into the idea of doing some restorations and honing and I have had so much research at my fingertips through this site. You guys are great with detail and good advice. I have recently found some junk razors I am going to learn to polish and hone on and I have a razor in waiting for when my honing skills are up to par!

I happen to be in an industry that relies heavily on Carbon Fiber and other fancy composite stuffs! I hope in the future to produce some new scales! I will start with my junk razors figuring that out as well!

I will keep learning my techniques using your guidance and hopefully I can post so before and after results sometime in the future!

    Thanks,

    Chris (carpedm)

Hello, glad to see you're enjoying your new experiences. If you decide to start using some of your materials to make scales, we can always use another source for 1/8" thick composites, could be lucrative

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

If you are talking flat sheets, I have some vendors I like who can make it cheaper just due to quantities. I am actually thinking of molding the shape from the beginning to really tailor how the weave would look facing outward with the curves of the scales! (That is going to take some time though!)

Dragonplate.com has some really nice sheets, but they may be expensive compared to others!
