Thread: Hello from Muncie Indiana!

I have been doing a lot of reading for awhile on this site and decided to sign up to ask a few questions I was unable to find. I will be making my first straight razor purchase in the next few weeks and am trying to make sure I get the best fit for my needs. I currently shave my face and whole head every two days. I use a Gillette 4 blade and shave in every direction to get the smoothest shave possible. I have fine soft hair and beard, and sensitive skin. I have researched all the dovos on straight razor designs, but can't decide on the right one. I like the 6/8 Bismarck and the prima klang. I would like to know if their is a dovo that would serve a better purpose for full head shaving. Sorry for the long introduction, and thank you in advance. It was great finding such an informative site when I started my research.

Welcome! To your immediate question. Nope. No Dovo will be better than any other Dovo for head shaving. Seeing as how your buying from SRD, all will be equally competent at face shaving as well.

Welcome to SRP fellow Hoosier... Never really liked that term, but oh well. As for the razors, I can't say one would be any better than the other. But I have always wanted a Bismarck. Good choices! Have fun!

Can't go wrong with a Dovo for your first razor. Besides the 2 antiques that were passed down through the family, my first new razor was a Dovo 6/8 Best Quality. Even after buying several others since, I still love shaving with it.
