    Default Hello from Swindon, UK

    Hi There

I'm relatively new to straight razor shaving, having practiced a bit with a shavette I was given. I've just had my first straight restored and honed, not exactly sure what it is but from web research I think it's a Carl Freidrich Ern "Crown and Sword". I've started shaving with it but not got around to the whole of my face yet, just the easy bits!

Eventually I want to get to the stage where I use it every day in place of my Mercur double edge, but at the moment I'm content to use it for the first pass and perhaps at weekends.

    Great to meet you all!
    Paul.

You've got off to a great start if you're using a Crown & Sword - Ern has a great reputation, and I really like mine - and also if you've had it professionally honed.

    Welcome to SRP!

Many thanks! The first shave was a bit rough but I reckoned that was down to the angle I was using, and sure enough the shaves since then have been much more enjoyable.
