    Default Good morrow from Montreal!

    Hi all,

So, after going through more interviews over the last month than I can remember, I have decided to abandon cartridge razors. What does one do before an interview? Shave. Shave shave shave sh...razor burn and lots of removal of hair by pulling, as opposed to cutting it off!

    Here's to a smooth transition...!

Welcome to the brotherhood. You will find many like stories.

I know I have NEVER regretted the move to wet shaving with a straight. I dedicate the time after supper to treat myself to some relaxing alone time with my shave ritual.
Any day on this side of the flowers is a good day!

Looking forward to it! First razor - is it recommended to get something akin to a Shavette, learn, and then move? I really like the Dovo Special...pretty thing!

It's all personal preference. If you don't feel comfortable stropping, by all means start with a shavette. I jumped right in with a couple of SR. You will notice a difference, however, between the shavette and a standard straight. The Dovo Special is a nice first razor, but if you buy one, make sure you get it from a seller who will hone, and strop it to shave ready for you. If you buy from Amazon, or many other sites, they just send you the razor, and you will have to either hone it yourself or send it off to someone else (more cost).

There are also some disposable straights out there, like the Lord, that are plastic and they actually give a pretty good shave, and an idea of angle. 2 or 3 shaves at most, then it's off to the trash. Good thing is they are only a little over a buck each.

Which ever way you go, take your time and learn the right way. Time for me to head to my shave cave for my evening alone time.
Any day on this side of the flowers is a good day!

The dovo special is one of my favourite razors. Get a professionally honed one with a strop and you will be off to a good start.
