Hello from New Orleans Louisiana!
So glad I stumbled onto this site. I have been interested in straight razors since I was a young boy and my dad spun yarns about getting beaten with the strop my grandfather still had hanging on the wall. I kind of put it in the back of my mind as something to get into one day and just never got around to it. In the last year or so I have gotten into watching westerns and after seeing badasses like Matt Dillon and John Wayne use them in the movies I decided to give it a try. I knew it would be cool, but I had absolutely no clue as to how fun it is! My beard can't grow in fast enough. I didn't know it could be so much of a hobby and how involved it is. Anyway thanks for all the help and for such a cool site!

Welcome to SRP, always something new to try and learn here.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Welcome to SRP. Yep, shaving with a straight razor is pretty much bad a$$, but more than that, the shaves (comfort, closeness etc) are far superior to any mass produced piece of plastic cartridge. A once mind-numbing chore transformed into a hobby/addiction you look forward to is something we already know and we welcome all to make the switch and gladly share advice to help you on your new found road to BBS.
