Default Hello from Witch City, Salem Mass

Hello everyone I wanted to make my introduction to SRP! I appreciate all the incredible information, knowledge, and time that has been put into this incredible forum! For myself I just turned 30, I feel I need start treating myself a bit. Taking up the practice of shaving with a straight razor is something that has intrigued me for a while now. As a Navy Veteran.. from boot on I would have to wreck my face by shaving numerous times a day in order to make sure I passed random shave inspections. There is an art to a nice shave and I am excited to get started with my new craft!

I look forward to chatting up and learning from the veterans here!

Welcome to SRP. From the tense of your post it sounds like you are no longer in the Navy? If so you should now have more time in the morning to concentrate on your shaves and to enjoy yourself too . Shaving with a straight razor is not only more gentle on the skin but will provide a far superior shave than what you are used to. Congrats on your decision and welcome to the gentlemen's club.

Welcome. Took a trip to your fair city a number of years ago around Thanksgiving time. It was very enjoyable.

Correct I am no longer in the service, completed my 4 year term and have been taking advantage of the great benefits ever since ie/ free college and currently looking to purchase 1st home with VA loan

Thanks for the welcoming from all that have posted!

I'm not sure how to quote more than one reply at one time but I did want to say Johnus I hope you enjoyed your stay in Salem! My wife and I have lived here for a little over a year and we do love it, Salem is a great little town to live in with a ton of history, and a lot of good eats right down the street!

..and dustoff003 I have actually just purchased today one of the straight razors from the Classified section. I grabbed the Genco Easy Aces 6/8 Shave Ready Straight Razor. Cannot wait for it to arrive! It was relatively inexpensive so I figured to give it a shot!

Ill be sure to update my progress in the correct threads as I learn my new craft?

To multi quote click the quotation mark with the plus in the bottom right corner of each thread to be quoted it will then be added to the new reply window below, when you click + Reply to Thread.

That Genco looked like a nice razor, good luck. I want to get more razors and some hones but I am deployed right now so no use getting it all here and then having to take it home.
    Aloha,
