Default New guy from Baltimore, MD

Hello all. I am brand new to straight razor shaving. I have only done so twice, yesterday and today. My wife got me a Dovo straight razor this weekend. The shave on my face was decent, but I have to work on my technique for shaving my neck. I have a couple nicks, but nothing too bad yet. I have always dreaded shaving, now I look forward to it.

Welcome, Gregg! You shall learn lots here. Funny, I picked up your post as I am interested in razors from Baltimore!
Lots of info. Go to the search box and type it in, whatever it is. Read lots and then ask questions. You will find what's right for you.

Funny, I just picked up a razor from an old Baltimore barber supply store from a local antique shop.
J.Lang & Co - is the supply shop. Made in Germany. Called "The Schwab".

I never knew shaving/shaving supplies could be addictive.

Oh, Gregg! If you only knew....... My current deal is John Pletsher of Baltimore. It seems he was an importer, but I think I have his personal pair of razors. Lots of history in Baltimore.

Fascinating. J. Lang was my great-great-grandfather's partner in making and selling and sharpening razors in Baltimore. I have copies of their letterhead if you would like to have one....

Really!?! That would be terrific! I got the razor refinished and I just got done shaving with it. It had some pitting, but it is in pretty good shape.

    Thank you very much.
