Thanked: 0I'm from Missouri show all information
Hello, my name is John and I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I have recently returned to wet shaving and double edge razors, and frankly I am enjoying that no end. But I have had two straights that belonged to my grandfather and my dad for a long time. So I've decided to get one of them honed and cleaned up and give it a try. These poor blades have not been used in 60 years so it is about time that they are loved and used again. Having said that I am about to turn 67 in a few days, so this should be an interesting life experience but I am looking forward to it, but just in case I am glad that I have good insurance!

Welcome to SRP John. Great that you have family heirlooms to shave with and that you are getting the one pro honed. Your DE experience will help you since you already have experience with lathering and maybe skin stretching, not to mention preparation. Check out the beginner's guide and Lynn Abrams post on the first straight razor shave. It is here in the SRP libraryi. BTW, I'm no spring chicken myself @ 64.

Thanked: 4942Howdy,
Welcome to the forum.
I get up to St. Louis a lot. Let me know if you ever want to learn how to hone razors or if you ever get down to Cape and want to try a few out.
Have fun.

Thanked: 0Welcome from another new guy. What an awesome treat it would be to have heirloom razors to use. I envy your journey. And insurance is probably a good idea..
