Thanked: 0Hello from Seattle
Finally decided to say hello. I have been having a great time soaking in all the information on this site. I am awaiting a Dovo SR I won off of Ebay. Once it comes I will probably see if I have to get it honed. Thank you for having me.

Thanked: 55No, regarding honing services. I'm new myself but I've honed a few of my razors and bought one from Whipped Dog (that comes honed) so I would have something to compare my work to.
I haven't found any flea market type shops around here with straight razors either but I'd love to know of them if they exist.
I've gotten all mine (except the Whipped Dog razor) from ebay.

Thanked: 13245Welcome aboard the straight train, may yer ride be long and smooth..
We actually have a very active PNW contingent, we usually have two meets in the area each year, for the past 3 years it has been Spingtime in Yakima and Fall in Spokane, we really hope to see you at the next one.. I promise if you take the time to make one you will learn more in 1-2 days then in months of reading anywhere
For honing take a look here first
Member Services - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
That is the member services section of SRP where you will find a list of Professionals that will get your razor squared away quickly..
You guys in Seattle have access to several antique stores that I have scored razors out of everytime we come to the coast, if you seek, most of the time you find..
You also have an actual men's shaving store right downtown Seattle, "they do not hone" but they have tons of stuff there, I found their prices to be a touch on the high side but it is right there so you have to consider shipping costs too... Will get you the link as soon as I can find it..
and there ya go

I will second Glen's remarks about everything. I am hoping to still put together the spring meet in Yak this year.
If you are ever through the Yakima area I would be willing to take the time to help you in whatever you need including honing. Just give me some notice to schedule some time. I will be available a lot this month.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy!
