Thanked: 0Hello from VA
Hello all,
My name is Scooter and I am originally from Alabama but of late I have moved to Virginia. I recently graduated college and am currently awaiting my next set of training as a 2nd Lt in the United States Marine Corps. I have to shave every morning as per the Corps and I hate the way my cartridge razor pulls on my face. I began to try and look into ways to fix this and the more I looked the more people I heard say that the only way to go was with a Straight Razor. I looked into safety razors but I knew that I eventually would move to a straight so I figured why not start out with one and that way I can start that learning curve as opposed to trying to learn two different skills. I recently bought my first razor and as suggested it was from a member a Dovo "Special" 6/8 and I cannot wait for it to get here. I am looking forward to starting this journey and having a morning ritual that prepares me for the stress of my days. I look forward to the mentoring I will no doubt receive here and the aid which I am sure to solicit over the coming years.
Semper Fi,
Scooter

Welcome to SRP!
Thank you for your service. It always seems that there are a fair number of marines around here... they are not so bad except with the start holding hands and such
steps-sons are USMC (like his momma), Army and Navy. i have taught them all to use a straight but they all use safety razors when they are not in the US

Welcome to SRP, and thank you for your service. I assume you're currently at Quantico for TBS? I'm in Alexandria. Sounds like you've got a good start with the Dovo (I assume you bought it from a reputable dealer so that it is truly shave ready?). Do lots of reading, don't hesitate to ask questions, and best of luck.
But, most importantly of all this week:
BEAT NAVY!!He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.
