Default Hello From Upstate New York

Hello, all! Very new to the straight razor shave although I've always had an interest. I stumbled on to this site this morning as I bought a lot of six vintage razors last night at an estate auction. My hope is that I can sell four or five to recover my costs and be able to keep one or two for my own use. Nothing like jumping in feet first, I suppose.

    Welcome!

Well your strategy has got to be a first lol. Well it's the first time I have heard of it lol! Kind of a good idea.

Heck if you really want to go all out, some of the guys here can restore them for a price and you might even make more! Either way, if you keep dumping cash into it... you might end up like me and refuse to give up because of all the cash you spent if nothing else lol!

Seriously - welcome - you are going to really enjoy learning your new skill. And others will appreciate it to!

    Welcome to SRP!

sure everybody thinks they are going to be able to sell a couple to make keeping other free but is will most likely just become a way of life and you will almost never part with enough of them and beside once you get 1 box full they start to multiply .

but good luck with your attempt. some pictures would be very nice. but please remember that we do not do appraisals on this site.

    enjoy,

I must have tried to reply to this thread at least two dozen times over the past few days to no avail. So I’ve created an alternate account in hopes that I’ll be able to post and interact until we’ve figured out what the issue is with my original account. When I try to post the site tells me I haven't the permissions and need to refresh the page and log in. I've contacted the web admin but have received no solution to date.

Yeah well....my wife was kind of concerned things might go down that path. So I better at least attempt to stick with the plan. Below are the pictures of the razors I purchased.

Excellent brands that look pretty good. i say keep them all and learn the art the round points are a good place for many to start, but it looks like the spike points have already been tamed a little so they will work very well after being honed.

you should pm a moderator aBout your account issue they take a strong stance against multiple accounts but they are good with helping you get the issue straightened out. it could be something as simple as forgeting to check the "remember me" box when you log in

    enjoy,
    jim
