Thanked: 0Hello hello from Brisbane Aus
Hello all!
First off I'd like to say - Wow. SRP is a wealth of knowledge.
Without all of the helpful info I've picked up here, I'm not sure I would have taken the plunge.
In preparation for my wedding, my brothers, took me out for a cut throat shave at the barbers. It was awesome. I've never been one for shaving as it always irritated me; but the clean shaved feeling and no burn was awesome. So good I started researching after the honeymoon, and decided I could learn this art.
I've just made with my first purchase of a straight razor - Giesent and Forsthoff 5/8, and brush, soap, strop. Looking forward to it getting delivered and that first shave!
I'll have to find myself a honemeister as I don't think I'm confident in getting the razor shave-ready myself (yet). When I can afford it I'll invest in some hones and learn that side of it too.
Anyways, Hello and looking forward to becoming part of this great community.

Thanked: 1587Welcome to SRP!
It is exceptionally excellent to have another Brisbanite in our midst. The next Brisbane meet will be a large affair!

Thanked: 0I'd say that's pretty spot on Jimbo!
That and I think the resurgence of the barber shop style. Uppercut Deluxe pomade etc.
When's the next Brisbane meet?

Thanked: 1587These things tend to be variable and depend on someone stepping up and volunteering to organise the meet. The last meetup was fairly recent, so I would suggest that the next one won't be until well into the new year. In other words, I don't have a clue.

Thanked: 983Lets go for Feb then. Who's going to organise it? Geoff?? You wanna sign the volunteer form again? Anyways welcome to the forum Chin. There are any number of us brisbanites that can help you with your honing, including young Jimbo James up there (especially young Jimbo James). It all depends on who is your nearest neighbour or who might feel like coming around for a cuppa and chat.

G'Day and welcome Chin.
I was thinking of letting Uncle Mick organise the next catch-up - just so he doesn't feel left out......
I'd be in favour of the same venue as last time, if Stu doesn't mind getting permission - 'cause we could spread out there and not scare the locals.
If you are over my way, Chin I'd be happy to hone your G+F for you (although I couldn't be called a honemeister by any means) - just PM me for details.
BTW - Glad to have you on board....Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 983Well '"Uncle Mick" says he will work on a date with Stu (so long as Stu gets to be Boss) a little closer to the time, but the rest is up to the attendee's . How much notice do you need to book the church hall Stu?
