Hello from Canada!
Hello, I just purchased a straight razor kit online and I'm looking forward to my first straight razor shave! I've been intrigued about learning how to shave with a straight razor for some time, but I have to admit that I finally caved in when I saw Skyfall recently. I'm hoping that soon I'll be able to throw away my disposable razors for good! *Holiday Straight Razor Set By Dovo. There's a link to the set I got. Can any old hands take a look at the set and see if I've got a good deal? Thanks!

Ha ha - I think Naomie Harris may be single-handedly responsible for more recent straight razor converts than any other single human being!
Welcome to SRP and to straight shaving! Whereabouts are you located? Depending where you are there may well be some locals to mentor you and help you hit the ground running.
Good choice on the holiday set. I have not used his services but Phil at Classic Edge has a great reputation here, so I think you can be sure that the razor is shave-ready.
If you haven't already read them, there are a couple of things here that most folks find really helpful when starting out:

Good luck, and if you have any questions, ask away!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! I'm located in Port Perry, Ontario. It's about an hour and a half northeast of Toronto. Can I assume there are a few enthusiasts in the GTA on this forum? I've already done a bit of homework and have started reading some articles on the art of the shave - I'll be sure to give those you listed a look very soon!
