    Default New guy from Idaho

Hello all. Been using a DE safety razor for about 3 years now. Recently picked up my first straight at art of shaving in Vegas. Was not "shave ready" as they claim, so it's with gssixgun right now for a proper honing. Can't wait to give it a go, I've received straight shaved before, but never done it myself.

Here is my current spread, Minus some misc creams and soaps.

    The new straight and strop
    MickR and Speedster like this.

Welcome, that first good straight razor shave will have you on cloud nine. Just practice, learn, and ask questions...oh and the most important thing, be patient!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Go slow and you'll have a blast with this. Woodcraft on Overland and Cole has a good selection of stones, including a Norton 4/8K. Hap Tallman's can cut you a piece of leather (3.5 x 28") to make a practice strop so you don't ruin your new one. (I'm in Boise too.)
