Thanked: 0Hi there
My name is Jason and I live in the Cleveland area. Been looking at getting into straight shaving for a few months and finally jumped in today. Bought all of the basics today, but didn't have time to actually test them out. Can't wait until tomorrow.
A little about me: I work as a paramedic and I'm in nursing school. 29 years old and spend most of my free time outside. Biking, kayaking, triathlons, etc.
I'm glad there are so many members of this forum who are so willing to help out newbies, like myself. Just wanted to say thanks in advance and I look forward to learning from everyone (and from experience) and hopefully be able to pass on some good advice to others one day. Thanks!

Hey man, Welcome to the addiction!!
I am loving every second of it...I'm sure you will too! Might I ask what kind of razor you got? Also, so you know if it's "shave-ready"? If not, then there are plenty of people (myself included) who would be more than happy to hone it up for you, just ask around! This forum is really an awesome group of helpful people. I am still fairly new at straight shaving & honing, but am learning more and more evey day woth the help of people on this site.
If you do have a shave-ready razor, then give it a go and let us know how you make out!!

Thanked: 0I bought a Dovo Diamant. Got it from SRD (I'm lucky enough to live close to the store) so I'm very confident that it is actually shave ready.
Will definitely be letting you know how it goes!

Thanked: 0So, got the first shave in today. Felt like the razor was skipping on my face a bit and the lather was pretty thin. I only got a few minor nicks, but I definitely learned a lot of things that I need practice with haha. Looking forward to getting better at it though!
