    Default Greetings from Amsterdam

    Hi everyone,

I've been reading about, looking at and preparing myself for my first shave with a straightrazor. Many videos studied on youtube and my Dovo starterskit arived today.

I'm an absolute beginner. Since 1 year I shave with save-blades and before that electrical. Now at age 43 I think its time to learn how to shave properly and with character. Souns good, but I'm still hesitating and wandering if I should follow a short course? Or just do it?

Looking forward reading your feedback and advice on this forum.

    Best regards from Amsterdam,
    Mark-Peter (MP)

Straights are indeed a learned skill.
Go ahead, just do it, you'll learn to love the shaves you get.
It will take you a little while, but the end result will be worth it!

I'll be down there late January, let me know if I can be of any assistance while down there.
I'll be bringing my shave kit, and wouldn't mind a demo over an Grolsch or two

The best way to shorten your learning curve is to meet with more experienced people. Send some of them a PM/email.

    Hope this helps
