Thanked: 0Greetings and salutations......
Just wanted to say hello from a new straight razor shaver. I have recently purchased a dovo 5/8 rounded and a Feather RG japanese style and I'm hooked!!!!! I love the innovation of the feather razor but also the history and skill it takes to hone, strop, and maintain an edge on a classic straight razor. I have shaved multiple times and have had my first epic fail with my feather razor. After I achieved hemostasis with the cut I finished very, very carefully and re-evaluated my technique. I lost respect for the blade and it reminded me of the carelessness I had at that moment. I love that concept and hope to become as proficient as those on here who make it look easy in the vidoes I have studied. With the ordering of a third razor, a Boker silver steel, I hope to end my R.A.D! However, I feel that this is just the beginning.........
Happy shaving and thanks for having me along,
-Matt

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the forum!! Yeah, RAD's not easily controlled, we talk about controlling it more than actually trying too.
When you get one of those reminders from your razor, there's a thread where you can post pics of the evidence, http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...0-cut-day.html Kind of fun just to look through too.
The links below are good places to look for info, especially the wiki. Enjoy the experience, and if we can help, ask away!
Regards,
Howard

Welcome! I've got a feather AC and like you have found that it's wicked sharp - respect definitely required! I also found a slightly different blade angle is needed as compared with a regular straight - all part of the learning process!
The Boker sounds like a nice third razor! As to ending your R.A.D - good luck with that! I'm at 7 so far. I won't say I've stopped but at least I've paused!
Welcome again!Greg
