Thanked: 0Newbie from brisbane, Australia
Hi all.
I lurked on this forum when I decided that I would dispose of disposables.
I have recently (last week) purchased an Edwin jagger de79 (I think), which is great. I have ordered a new dovo renaissance 6/8 and an antique dovo from an online auction site.
Still to buy a strop...
Ive discovered prorazo from here, and am using this to good effect. I use the maca root shaving cream from the Body Shop and have no problems with it- second only in preference to the cream by the real shaving company that I discovered in the UK.
Thankyou everyone for sharing your experience and knowledge. Happy shaving.

Thanked: 6Welcome to SRP, you won't regret moving to a SR. Just remember to take it slow and have patience.

Welcome to SRP
Just the usual warnings when a new guy mentions he is getting his first straight from a auction site. Your razor may need honed by a pro because our definition of shave ready is much higher than factory shave ready. Keep the pressure light and start slow.

Thanked: 275It's probably an EJ DE89 -- very nice razor.
I've used the Macca Root cream, and it worked well. Too bad I didn't like the scent.
Keep in touch -- DE's are relatively easy, but we're here to help you with the straight razors that are coming.
. Charles. . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.

Welcome to the Place.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

G'Day and welcome to SRP.
Any time you want a hand, just send me a PM and I'll see if I can drop over (my parents live in Bracken Ridge) or, if you want your razors honed, I'll do them for you gratis, if you bring them over.Hang on and enjoy the ride...
