Thanked: 0New member from Astoria, NY
Hello, all. I'm Richard, from Astoria, NY. I'm pretty excited about getting into straight razor shaving. Usually, when I find a forum like this, I get hooked. Anyways, I'm 28. All my life, I've dealt with dense, tough, insanely fast-growing facial hair. I'm a lawyer, and I generally prefer keeping my face clean cut. I've been using the Mach 3/5 blade iterations over the last 10+ years. Unfortunately, I could shave with them at best only every 2 days or so. Moreover, a lot of the girls I've dated have mentioned how irritating it is to deal with my facial hair (my current gf even got me an electric shaver to try and use every day). Anyways, I know nothing about straight razor shaving, but look forward to being part of the community. I've picked up a set of items from a member on here, so looking forward to starting there.

Hey rich
I'm originally from astoria myself and just got into wet shaving. I'm about 25 shaves in. Pm Me if you need any advice on where to get things Otherwise I advise you to scour this site for all of the information. There's a wealth of knowledge on here And without the help of some of these guys I wouldn't have been able to get where I am today. Go slow and have fun!

Totally agree with magpie. You should come out to the meet-up. Here is a link to the information:

I also just started to SR and have learned tons from the guys here at SRP. Remember to be patient, take it slow and don't get discouraged. It will get better as you shave although there are times when you feel you took a step back but that will only help you take two steps forward.
Welcome!!
