Default Hello from Seattle! Question about a vintage dovo

    Hey there,

My name is Jake. I'm new to this wet shaving business, but pretty excited. My wife got me a shaving kit for christmas after she saw it in a shop somewhere and thought it looked like a "classy man-present." The more I've read about it, the more excited I've been. Turns out the razor she bought was an "American Master" which apparently is on the "do not buy" list. So I just picked one up off ebay last night for $36. It's a vintage dovo. I was hoping to get some tips on what kind of work would need to be done on it to get it shave ready. Here are the pictures from ebay. I'll put up a few more once it gets here. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Good News - It is a Dovo

Bad News - It is pretty well worn to a frazzle

By the way, do yourself a favor and go to the search box and look up ebay 101 and read until you blackout from exhaustion; will save you a huge headache and money next time. Welcome to the forum. Let us know if we can be of help.

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Well I feel silly. Thanks for the heads up, I'll do a bit more research before I take another stab at it. I contacted the ebay seller asking if I could cancel my order (I paid earlier this morning), so hopefully he'll take pitty on me.
