Thread: Newbie to SR shaving in Chicago

Hey all, I'm new to the SR world although been debating the move for quite some time now. Finally decided I was ready to tackle it. I purchased a new Dovo Best 5/8 half hollow from Superior Shave, should be arriving any day now. Any thoughts or experiences with that site, and he made it clear on the site that the razor would be shave ready.

Any tips for a newbie like me would be appreciated, looking forward to really starting to shave.

I trust you took their advice and bought more than just a razor you do need the strop as well. A brush is also needed but you can get them at most drugstores and walmarts it does not have to be fancy same fort he soap and shaving cream. the goo in a can that you are used to using is not really ideal for use with a straight razor as it tends to dry out too quickly.

take your time and read the beginners section of the wiki and you will be clean shaven before you know it.
