Hello from France
Hello everybody !
My name is Tunui and I live in France. Here's my "story" :
A couple of years ago the idea of shaving with a straight razor came to me, so I looked on the internet for some prices to get an idea. When I saw shops selling them in Europe for ~200$ (new of course), I thought I would set the idea aside for a while to see if it came back and if I would become obsessed or not. About a year later, I was visiting relatives in Minnesota when I came across The Art Of Shaving shop in the Mall Of America. When I saw the razors in display it was the beginning of a month long obsession (I don't buy something easily and prefer to really think it through), that lasted my whole stay in America. During that period I could do nothing else than read as much as I could about straight razor shaving, and so I discovered this forum. I've been reading it ever since and have now been a straight razor shaver for a year and two months.
I've recently decided to create an account (because we always have questions so now I can ask them !) and I really would like to thank all the members here that make this forum work, because I do believe it helped me a lot to decide to finally go forth and shave with a straight razor. When you start getting interested in really doing it you notice how many things there are to take account of, so without the information here, it surely would have felt to overwhelming. So again, thank you and keep up the great work !

glad to hear that you have been successfully shaving for so long before joining us. What make of razor did you decide to start with?
i have 6 T-I and love them all, just don't keep them all in the rotation though.

My first razor was a 5/8 hollow Dovo, kind of a fancy one, wooden scales with gold printed on the blade. So I bought a Boker on ebay for travel. Love both of them ! My last one is this one :
