Hello all. Just joined SRP. I look forward to extending my knowledge and use of straight razors. I am still a beginning shaver. I currently am bearded, so it will be a couple of months before I freshen up. I am in Southeast Texas, in a town called Texas City. I have been collecting razors for a couple of years and just recently started cleaning and sharpening some of my razors. I have browsed some of the info on this site and will try to utilize this to better my efforts.

    Thanks.

Welcome to SRP and good luck on your journey. As what I normally tell new guys get at least one pro honed blade so you have a good idea of what a shave ready razor feels like. If you have a bunch of razors already you can just send one out to get honed. Check the classifieds under member section for guys that do honing.

Welcome to SRP, and +1 to the advice given above. There really is nothing like a truly shave-ready razor, so it's well worth the time and $$ to send one out to a pro for honing. That will give you the benchmark by which you can judge your own honing efforts. There are plenty of honers who advertise in the classifieds:

    Good luck!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
