    Welcome!! Great story

    That's REALLY rusty, I wouldn't try it until all that red rust is off of there, that's a tetanus breeding ground.

    right on.. i promise i will not....
    i cleaned a small area of steal on the stem of the blade (at the base were the blade meets the handle?)
    . it showes a #22 then two birds (flamingos?)
    then "Robert klaas " then what looks like "solingen"
    there is also some really nice patterning on the back side (the part you can see even when closed?)

    Welcome and great story great find. I am hoping it cleans up nice for you and you find out why your father swore by it.

    Hey welcome to the forum! I really happy for you that you found the razor, I know I would be happy, rust or no rust It looks to me like a Dubl Duck. A pretty sought after razor from what I know!

    Hope it cleans up OK and most of all hope it shaves well!

    Edit: Whoops, looks like i spoke too soon, realized those are not ducks on the scales at all! Not sure what that razor is actually, maybe someone else might!

    a little steal wool reveled what looks like a shield with crossed swords and a torch in the center. it reads "prima solingen" in a ribbon on both sides of the shield

    Yeah I know the emblem you are talking about alright, have seen it on a few Dovo blades. Basically means "Top Quality/Finest Solingen". Solingen is the place it was made in Germany. Randy is spot on about Kissing Crane for sure though, if you look it up you will find razors and knives with that emblem on them.
