    Default Hello from VA

Hi folks, I'm brand new to straight razor shaving and am long removed from any sort of 'real' shaving- I've lived the last 8 years or so on my mechanical razors trim function. But now I think it's finally time for me to adopt a less scruffy look. It'll likely still be a few weeks before my first straight razor shave as I am just beginning to pick up the things I need, but I'm looking forward to it (minor amounts of trepidation).

Welcome, you have come to the right place.

Welcome to SRP. Ask any questions that arise as we are here to help. If you stick with it, you'll wish you would have started sooner.

Welcome to the forum. If there is anything we can do to assist, let us know!

Wow, that's awesome that we have VA get togethers. Unfortunately I have family coming into town that weekend, so it's unlikely that I'll be able to break free.

They were common in 2008. There used to be a northern and a southern California get together. Nothing recent that I've noted.

Welcome to the forum mate. If you have minr trepidation before you have your gear, you just wait 'til you have your face lathered up and bring that razor up to your face. You're gonna have a whole heap of nerves right at that point. Sound like I'm speakin from experience?! Yes I am. And I'm still here to talk about it, having continued on shaving successfully with the cut-throats for some years now.
You'll be right mate, just remember take it slow, don't give away your clippers just yet, be patient and you will get there. It is a bit of a learning curve.

heh, As long as I feel better in the moments after my first SR shave than I did in the few before, then I'll call it a success. Thanks for all the encouragement.
