    Default Hi from Sydney!

    Hi all,

I'm a complete newbie to the world of straight razors. I picked up a couple of razors a while back just as collectables, and i found that i cant resist the urge to actually start using them. I've been lurking around the forums for a couple of weeks, and picked up a ton of info to get me started (thanks!).

Here's a few detailed shots of my 2 razors - i have edited the shots to highlight the imperfections of each.

I'd love to hopefully be able to shave with both, but the rust scars on both have me a little worried after what i have read online so far.

Any feedback / advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to SRP Ryan.
Just to repeat my reply to your pm.
The pitting on the Dovo is in the worst possible place & it may be advisable to leave it alone.
The Bengall is pretty worn & will require some grinding of the heel stabiliser. The wear at the toe is likely from the heel lifting & you can see the shiny honing marks on the bottom of the stabiliser. She has a bit of a frown too.

G'day Ryan and welcome to the forum. Os ^ is the man to listen to with regards your two cut-throats. If anyone in Australia can point you in the right direction it will be him. Without being able to access your link, I'm going to say, don't necessarily believe him if he says it can't be fixed. He's worked a miracle or two before now.

    Thanks Mick,

That seems to be the general consensus around here. I have already popped both razors into the post and sent them over for an expert inspection

Here's hoping something can be done with them, if not I guess I better start expanding the collection!

    Default Hi from Sydney!

    Hi Ryan,

From a fellow Sydneysider if you sent your razors to Oz and he can do something with them your in for some smooth edges.

He's worked magic on a couple of my nicked edges now.

Those are a couple of good lookin' razors you have there.
As Oz said, the pitting on the Bismarck is a concern, but If he cant get it shaving no-one can.
Hopefully you will end up with 2 sweet razors to start the collection. Bengalls are great shavers.
    Welcome to SRP too.
