Thread: Newbie on Day 3

Hi All,
I was one of the lucky few to get a straight razor from Larry off of the Whipped Dog website before he apparently became inundated with requests. There is now a two week wait and prices have gone up. Still worth it if you ask me.

My first three shaves... 1) bloodied on the first day, alum block stung real good, nicked my strop, and that was all over the course of 45 minutes! 2) better 3) even better

The shaves have not been great, but I love it. By reading all of your posts, I have a 3-6 month time horizon and I'm just going to enjoy the process, nicks and all! I ended up buying a new Dovo from the Art of Shaving and I have been in contact with Obie to have him hone it up and teach me some technique as well. I'll bring him my vintage from Whipped to see how badly I have screwed that up with my first few attempts at stropping.

I just wanted to introduce myself and let everyone know that the information that goes out on this site is unbelievably helpful and maybe even more so, encouraging. Thank you!

Glad to hear you've mad a start into this madness mrdubs, and Obie is one of the finer Gentlemen around. He won't lead you astray.

If your like me your whipped didnt come 100% shave ready and it will be even more of a treat after its been touched up!
