Default Hello from Spruce Grove Alberta

    Hello Everybody,

Better late than never finding this site. Already bought a "straight razor", krieger something or other. Doesnt really work, but such fun trying to hone it and then curse when it wont work. Found this forumwhile doing reviews of some razors thatwill actually hold an edge. Seems that there is some very good advice and knowledgable people here. Looking forward to hopefully avoiding someof the more irritating pitfallsas a newbie. I have been shaving with a disposable blade straight razor for about 6 yrs so im not complety blind this but its all been self taught.

    Hi, and welcome to SRP!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid you have one of the razors on "The List":

Brands of Straight Razors to avoid - Straight Razor Place Wiki

While this does not bode well for it being able to take a decent edge in the future, it at least may explain why you've had some trouble both honing and using it.

    Edit: see also http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...er-razors.html

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanks for the info. Ihad already bought the paper weight before coming here. I really do need a newbie razor. Preferably cheap as i assume learning to hone will probably be a little rough on the razor. Do you have a prefered razor that you suggest to new guys?

Thats awesome. I appreciate the info. After shaving my face with what felt like an angry cat, I really needed to avoid the other kreiger quality blades. Will try one of your suggestions.

    Thanks again.
