Nube
Hey there,
Joe here from Orange County California. I'm as new as possible and will be doing a lot of reading before diving in but really anxious to try it out. I've been shaving with an electric for 30 years and never had a wet shave. I guess complacency would be the word. It seems the older I get the more weird the hair patterns get on my neck. My dad is a life long electric shaver but my grandpa was a wet shaver. Anyways I will be doing some shopping here shortly. Would like to get a quality old piece.
Thanks in advance for all the knowledge I am about to soak up.
Joe

Welcome to SRP!
Good choice in my opinion going with a classic blade. You can find them for much cheaper (and sometimes much more ) than new straights. The websites listed above are a great source. If you deside to buy from eBay keep in mind you will need to send it out to be professionally honed. Whichever route you take, just don't be afraid to ask questions. Good luck, and most of all have fun!

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Yeah I'm not into the auction sites too much especially something I'm new to. I'm going to go check out plaza cutlery and see what they have and do a little window shopping maybe a little touchy feely.

Well I ordered a TI Spartacus 6/8 kit from Vintage Blades so I will learn on a nice piece and will keep my eyes open for the vintage stuff as I learn more about them. I can see eventually having a variety.

It says it comes professionally honed so I will just have to get down the stropping hopefully.

Hi mate welcome.
Nice razor to start with, did you get a strop to go with it? If not you'll want to pick one up. Also do lots of reading up on stropping and either practice on a folded newspaper or if you want to use your actual strop use a butter knife to get your technique sorted so you don't cut up your strop like I did lol

Pro honed at vintagebladesllc means honed by Lynn (THE Honemiester) and i would shave with it straight from the box without stropping it first.
sounds like you are off to a great start.
