Hey guys, I decided to try out shaving with a straight razor. Watching the cowboys in the old cowboy movies sitting in the barbar chair getting a shave always amazed me and always wanted to shave that way. I even went to a barbar once to get a shave and he said he couldn't because of law suits. So im going to hopefully do it my self and not slit my own throat

Well slitting your throat is bad, at worst you might expect to get a new "dueling scar" or a couple little nicks. Many states now require barber's to use a 'shavette' with a new disposable blade for each client, for health and safety reasons. there are quite a few shaving related videos but the ones by Lynn abrams, gssixgun and mantic59 are among the better ones as far as techniques are concerned.
the beginners guide is invaluable to starting out well.
