Thanked: 0Hi from the UK!
Hi folks, just this minute joined, and thought I should stop in here and say "hello!" Had a quick look around beforehand and it looks exactly like the sort of place where I will spend many hours learning about straight razors, something I've been meaning to do ever since I switched to DE wet shaving about 3yrs ago. I'm sure that my delay in taking up the challenge of learning the new skill that a straight razor represents, was in part motivated by concern for potential injury, and just a lack of time to do the necesary research to understand where to start.....so a forum like this is fantastic
One other thing, I'm in the UK, London to be precise, and would really appreciate if any other UK based members could point me to a good vendor for my first purchase; I found my way here via The Invisible Edge, and they certainly seem like a good place to sart with, but I'd welcome suggestions as to others as well. Oh, yes, and since I've already got a brush (Edwin Jagger best badger) and soap (Proraso) do I only need a strop, if so is there any advantage to a hanging one over a paddle?
Thanks

Welcome tmg.
You found probably the best place in the UK to buy a razor ( the invisible edge )
Could also try Strop-Shop.Co.UK < best place for strops in the UK too.
There is a UK based forum called The Shaving Room and you should be able to pick up a good vintage blade at a good price from there if you ask !
Personally I prefer a hanging strop but a paddle may be easier for a beginner.
Best of luck, you have a great journey ahead of you !
